Marlborough Street apartment building is damaged by a deadly fire.

A fire at 129 Marlborough Street forces a Diane Bryant, 19, and Tiare Jones, 2, her goddaughter onto a fire escape on an upper floor. When the fire escape collapses, the two fall to the ground. Bryant dies but Jones survives. A photographer who captures the tragedy is awarded a Pulitzer Prize for the photo in 1976.*
